Pastor Keith

Keith grew up in the church, discipled by his grandmother Erma, and gave his life to Christ at age nine. He's served in nearly every capacity a local church has to offer — Sunday school teacher, choir member, greeter, prayer partner, deacon, elder, Youth pastor, College pastor — and helped plant a church in Southern California now led by his oldest son, David Junior (basechurch.com).

Keith holds a Bachelor's in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute and an MDiv from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and he's currently pursuing his doctorate — alongside writing a memoir set to release in 2027.

His heart for CHBC is simple: To equip the saints for the work of ministry. That God's people would love the Word and live it out in their daily lives, loving one another and reaching the lost and broken in our community for Jesus.

His anchor Bible verse is Deuteronomy 6:4–9, the Shema — "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." — words he believes are meant to shape not just what we believe, but how we live at home, at work, and everywhere in between.

Keith and his wife, Michelle, have been married 34 years and have nine children, eight through adoption, three of whom — Tommy, Michael, and Madison — they're still raising at home. Together they love mornings with coffee, good friends, music, lots of laughter, great food, and Texas life in Cedar Hill. Keith is also a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, still holding out hope for the next championship run.
